Undeclared Nuts in Chocolate

The South Bend Chocolate Company is recalling 174 1-lb bags of Bountiful Blend, a blend of chocolate covered mixed nuts and dried fruits, because it contains undeclared cashews, almonds, pecans, and Brazil nuts.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews, pecans, almonds or Brazil nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. Bountiful Blend was sold via internet sales, mail order and may have been sold nationwide through our distributors to retail stores./p>

The Bountiful Blend product impacted by the recall is sold under The South Bend Chocolate Company brand name and was produced on or after March 18, 2010. The product under recall is: Bountiful Blend in 1-lb Bags. Products with labels reading Item #154 UPC #644823001549 are subject to this recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date. This recall was initiated after it was discovered that Bountiful Blend containing cashews, pecans, almonds or Brazil nuts were not listed on the product’s labeling. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by the printing of ingredient statements and was cut off before the listing of nuts printed.

Consumers who have purchased 1-lb bags of Bountiful Blend are urged to contact the South Bend, Ind.-based company at 574-233-2577 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Undeclared Nuts in Ice Cream

Oregon Ice Cream Company LLC is recalling 641 tubs of its Denali Bear Claw Ice Cream due to undeclared peanuts.

The product was distributed at ice cream shops and Cash & Carry stores in Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.

The product can be easily identified by the label on the side of the 3 gallon tub. The label reads in part “Denali Bear Claw”, Distributed by Oregon Ice Cream Company, Plant 41-90, 3 gallons, 10124, 061041. The affected lot code of product is 10124 and the item number of the product is 061041.

No illnesses have been reported to date. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing peanuts was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts.

Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by accidental use of ingredients with very similar packaging during production. Consumers who have purchased Denali Bear Claw are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund if in the original container, otherwise destroy the product.

Undeclared Almonds in Turkey Hill Ice Cream

Turkey Hill Dairy recalls packages of Chocolate Marshmallow Premium Ice Cream due to undeclared almonds.

The product was distributed to stores in central Pennsylvania.
The affected product is in1.5-qt. (48-oz./1.42L) and marked “01/18/2011 56/L1.” And preceding the code is a four-digit number indicating the production time. The recalled product includes a time between 02:25 and 02:35. Affected containers would have been purchased after January 28, 2010.

Consumers may return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may call (800) 693-2479.

Undeclared Walnuts in Organicgirl produce

A precautionary voluntary recall of 120 cartons of 5.75 oz Berries & Balsamic Salad has been issued by California-based organicgirl produce because it may contain an incorrect condiment packet with an unlabeled allergen for walnuts.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The product is packaged in plastic trays in a 6-count carton, UPC 895203-001332, product lot number 31B073830, with Use-By Date of December 16, 2009.

No other products, lot numbers or use-by dates are involved in this recall. The limited number of cases was distributed in three states only: California, Texas and Florida. The inadvertent mislabeling of the condiment packet has been corrected. This action does not affect any other organicgirl products in the marketplace. Consumers who have purchased the Berries & Balsamic salad from this specific production day are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
